We've decided to send out an occasional e-newsletter to keep you informed about the latest news here at the Neahtawanta Inn. If you would like to be added to the email list, please click --Subscribe.
It's been a busy fall and winter here! We started by hiring our friend Pat Curley and his crew to paint most of the outside of the Inn. It's the same color (no, we didn't go with PURPLE!) and it looks beautiful! We are especially thrilled with the porch; the painting crew sanded down the old posts before painting so they look really spiffy! Our friend and Neahtawanta Center board member, Jeff Anderson, replaced the old porch railing for the final touch. We know our guests are going to enjoy sitting on the porch, watching the water, even more than ever!
Those of you who have visited our website recently already know this next bit of news: we have installed solar hot water heater panels on the roof! Even though we don't get full sun, our friend/board member, Bob Tinker, calculated the perfect spot for the panels. We are already making lots of hot water on these unusually sunny days in March! With 6 bathrooms here we thought it was a good investment and with tax credits it was affordable for us.
Another major renovation project that will improve our guests' experience is the addition of a sink to Room 3. Now, both Rooms 2 and 3, that share the bathroom on the hallway, have their own sinks. Guests can wash up, shave, and fix up their hair in their room, easing up bathroom time. Extending plumbing pipes over to Room 3 was quite a project, but we feel it was worth it for our guests' convenience. Since the sink took over the closet space, we added a "bump-out" toward the chimney and put in an open clothes hanging bar, hooks, shelf and full-sized window with seat on the northeast wall. It makes the room much more spacious and light.
Finally, a small improvement with (we think) a major effect: we had the old, dark-stained room doors sanded and painted. They lighten up the hallway and add a bit of old-fashioned flair.
